Why RoaR exists
Social media is very good at capturing attention.
Most social platforms are designed around engagement.
The more people watch, react, comment, share and return, the better the platform performs.
Over time, that has shaped the environments we spend our time in.
Content that provokes a quick reaction often travels further than content that requires thought. Popularity becomes a signal of value. Different types of media compete in the same feed. Algorithms increasingly decide what people see next.
We don't think the answer is to remove algorithms or abandon social media.
We think the environment can be designed differently.
